Robotic process automation(RPA)
Robotic process automation (RPA) can be simply defined as the method of replacing humans with robotic software to do their work through user interaction robotic software. In the sense they are not like those used in factories and humanoid robots. They are just software that replace humans in computerised works like form filling, data processing and data transfer.
In other words, Robotic process automation (RPA) can be said as the combination of different software applications that perform different tasks when these different applications are annexed to one another. They in turn create a new super software with multiple uses. That performs many functions according to the software annexed mainly to automation.
The RPA has its roots from that of the machine. As more scientists explored about machine learning concept, it gave rise to many problem-solving ideas like AI artificial intelligence and RPA. It has its origin way back to the 1960s. At that time Robotic process automation (RPA) would have sounded like something which no one has any idea about.
But now it’s gaining control and has become popular due to its super problem solving abilities. Later, as technology got advanced in 1990 Robotic process automation (RPA) was officially established and the first purpose for which RPA was used is for collecting datas from online websites and pages.
It has a good scope and people from all walks of business. Fields related to computers have started moving towards RPA. The reason why it is happening is because as we’ve seen before RPA is simply replacing humans with robots to perform computational works.
Following are the reasons why RPA is preferred over by most of the industries :
- It is less time consuming when compared to humans. As we all know that humans will take time and break while doing their work but that’s not the case for robots. And also robots won’t sleep so it is highly a smart choice to replace the RPA with people who work for night shifts.
- It is error free. As humans we are all prone to make errors irrespective of our intelligent quotient but robots are error free. They perform the repetitive tasks without any deviation. It is reported that the robots will have 0% error in their output.
- It is cost effective. Being machines they have to be only bought for a certain price and later they will work continuously unlike humans who are a form of liability where we have to pay them for the work that they do.
- The cost of maintenance is nil. As stated before RPA is not a set of junk robots which has to be maintained annually or monthly. It is a cluster of different softwares which are assembled together to perform a task.
- The RPA is software based so the only maintenance we need to do is to update it and check for any glitches in the RPA itself.
- The robots are very accurate in their results unlike the humans who often misplace and truncate their results.
The Robotic process automation (RPA) is highly capable of replacing humans when it comes to work. They just imate an average human being in an optimistic way.
For instance if you work in an educational institution and want students to join into a new course which your institution offers instead of making your employees or staff do the work of processing the data of each and every student, you can blindly rely on RPA it offers the best advantages at its end.
Let us look at another instance where the Robotic process automation (RPA) can be used, say for example you run a consultancy and have openings in certain line of work. Instead of having your HR take, gather, process and scatter the data you can substitute RPA instead of manual work as it is good in terms of doing repetitive work.
As we are humans we have the greed for advancement so there are researches going on within Robotic process automation (RPA) itself to make it further more interesting and advanced. The next stage of RPA is said to emerge shortly and it is called SPA smart process automation . As the RPA is a prototype of computerised automation, it has few glitches within itself like it cannot read the datas which are unstructured but this SPA is believed to overcome this problem.
